Bahrain is comparatively small. The country consists of a larger main island and some smaller islands and lies off the coast of Saudi Arabia. For this reason Bahrain's climate can be compared to that of the Gulf coast of Arabia. However, the island location also brings a few peculiarities with it.
The mostly desert inland Bahrain has a warm and humid subtropical climate. Almost all year round you have to expect high humidity in Bahrain. The only exception is the time when dry winds blow over the island from the mainland. But especially in the very warm period from April to October the hot and humid climate can cause problems. Temperatures above 35° C are almost normal in summer, peak temperatures of 45° C can be quite common.
Although the humidity is very high, the rainfall in Bahrain is very limited. Notable precipitation falls mainly between November and March. Winter temperatures are usually very mild. Actually, it only gets cold when cold north winds from Iran reach the island.
According to many visitors the best time to travel to Bahrain is rather in winter between November and March. Even though it can rain sometimes, the weather is quite pleasant during that time. The summer in Bahrain is for many visitors simply too hot and too humid
