Cape Verde (also Cabo Verde or Cape Verde Islands) consist of a group of islands with 10 main islands and several small side islands. In total, the country has an area of approx. 4,036 km². The islands are located off the west coast of Africa between 14 ° and 16 ° North.
Cape Verde consist of mostly hilly terrain of volcanic origin. The islands are considered to be extremely dry and rainfall is rare or unlikely. When it rains it is mostly from August to October.
The temperatures are warm all year round, typical for the tropics. It is coolest from December to February. The best time for Cape Verde is spring and summer, with March to May being perhaps the best months.
