Best Time To Travel To: El Salvador

El Salvador is one of the smallest countries in Central America. The country is located between 13° and 14° north and is relatively mountainous overall. El Salvador is one of the few countries in the region that does not have access to the Caribbean Sea. However, there is a small coastal strip on the Pacific Ocean. Here, the climate is tropical, it gets relatively hot and there is a rainy season, which is between May and November.

Nevertheless, it must be noted that the rain can be very abundant at night and the often unpaved roads are somewhat affected.

When ist the best time for El Salvador

The best time to travel to El Salvador is in December and March/April. Then the dryness is not quite so extreme and it does not rain much. Basically, the main season is the dry season from December to April with a focus around Christmas and the beginning of January as well as around Easter. Relatively many visitors also stay in the country at the beginning of August. It should be noted that the hurricane season in El Salvador is dated between the end of June and November. At the end of November 2009, floods caused by tropical cyclone Ida killed almost 200 people!
