Formentera belongs to the Balearic Islands and is therefore one of the sun destinations. On average, Formentera has around 300 days of sunshine a year, but Formentera is not as dry as one might think. In winter, and especially in November and December, there is a lot of rain. All year round there is always precipitation, but the summer remains relatively dry.
Formentera has a very mild climate all year round, even in winter the thermometer rarely drops below 10 ° C. The island is comparatively flat, the highest point La Mola is only about 190 meters above sea level. In summer you can always count on more than pleasant temperatures on Formentera. It is then sunny and warm, but due to the lack of mountains, practically the whole island is covered by pleasant winds, which never let it get very hot.
Formentera can be an interesting travel destination all year round. Basically, however, the winters are not recommendable. The weather is then quite inconsistent and, based on the experience of recent years, you always have to expect cool phases. Most of the rain falls normally in winter. Regardless of this, Formentera is still a popular destination for long-term holidaymakers in winter.
The best time for Formentera is certainly the summer from May to September, when it is also the main season on the island. Usually there is always a lot going on in July and August. Spring and autumn can be very nice travel times in Formentera. April and May as well as September and October can be beautiful. In April and October, however, you have to expect cooler winds and rain.
