Panama is located in Central America. The country occupies a narrow strip on the isthmus of Central America and extends to 7 ° to 9 ° north. Panama was part of Colombia until the Panama Canal was built, and has been an independent country since then. Even though Panama has lowlands on the Caribbean and Pacific, much of the country is mountainous. The largest mountains reach a good 3,300 meters.
The climate table of Balboa Heights is typical for the climate of the Pacific coast. The lowlands on the Caribbean coast are similar in terms of warmth, but it rains twice as much there. On the Caribbean coast it's rainy all year round anyway. But across Panama you can see two separate dry and rainy phases. The dry season is from December to April, the rainy season from May to November.
Panama reaches relatively high temperatures all year round in the lower regions. The high temperatures also prevail in the rainy season, which then leads to uncomfortable humidity.
But the higher you go in the country, the cooler and more pleasant it gets. The temperatures are also stable over the year in the higher altitudes, but they are generally below 20 ° C, and around 10 ° C at very high altitudes.
The best time to travel to Panama's Pacific coast is most likely between December and January. The temperatures are then very pleasant and bearable. February, which is also the typical carnival month in Panama, can be interesting.
