Paraguay is enclosed on all sides by other countries. The country stretches from 18 ° to 28 ° south. There are borders with Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina. Paraguay is comparatively flat, only a few points are over 450 meters.
The north-west is climatically tropical. Summers are hot, winters warm, and rain falls in the warmest months from October to March. The northwest is part of the Chaco region, which continues towards Bolivia and Argentina. The further north you go here, the more it rains. In winter, the region can be influenced by cold polar air, but frosty temperatures are rare - but they can certainly occur.
The southeast is not quite as warm, but still reaches an almost tropical climate. It's a little more hilly here than in the northwest. The winters are generally a little cooler than those in the northwest, but there are rarely frosty days here either. In summer it gets warm to hot. The conditions could well be described as tropical. The tendency to rain increases the further east you go.
The climate table of Asuncion can be taken as a proxy for the conditions in the center of the country. But here it is cooler and a little more rainy than in the northwest.
The best time for Paraguay is probably in the winter months from May to September, because in summer it can get very uncomfortably hot. Many visitors traditionally come in February because of the carnival. A good month in terms of weather, but very crowded.
