Serbia is located on the Balkan Peninsula and borders Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.
Serbia has a very typical climate for this region. Basically, the Balcan Peninsula is strongly influenced by the warm waters of the Adriatic, Aegean and also by the Black Sea. In addition, Serbia has some notable mountain ranges, which in turn have an influence on the climate in the country.
There is a tendency to find a continental climate in Serbia, which is temperate in the south and, in the mountains, the more it gives way to a mountain climate, the higher you go. That means in general for Serbia: the winters tend to be cool to cold, in summer it is usually quite warm, in some places even hot. Summer also usually has the most rainfall.
Serbia is a mountainous country. Here, of course, the higher you go, the cooler it gets. At the higher altitudes, the rain repeatedly turns into snow, which can then be from December to April. Winters can be crisp.
Also in the river valleys the winters of the Danube and Sava are quite cold and uncomfortably frosty, although there is comparatively less rain in the areas. It usually gets coldest in Serbia in January and warmest in July.
The climate table of Belgrade is typical for the lowlands of the country.
The period from May to September can be named as the ideal travel time for Serbia.
