best time to travel to Tibet

Tibet has been part of China since 1950. The small country is located in South China, on the roof of the world, so to speak, because Tibet is surrounded by the highest mountain peaks in the world.

Most of Tibet is at an altitude of at least 3,700 meters. So it is actually clear that you will find a mountain climate here.

The winters are snow reliable and mostly very cold. The higher you go, the more snow-sure and colder it gets. The snow line in Tibet is astonishingly high at around 6,600 meters.

The summers in Tibet are actually quite pleasant. During the day it is often warm, but at night the temperatures drop quite rapidly. Most of the rain falls in summer, which is mainly carried into the country by the monsoon winds. The main rainy months are July and August.

Typical for the lower parts of Tibet would be the Climatetable from Lhasa. The weather there is actually quite decent all year round. The sun shines astonishingly often, rainfall is limited. Very often the weather is clear.

The period from May to October / November is usually referred to as the best time for Tibet. The temperatures are relatively high during that time. However, one should note that there is a lot of rain, especially in July and August. September and October have proven to be generally ideal for many travelers. It is then relatively dry and not so cold. November would be worth considering in this regard, but it will be quite cool. December to February is winter and it gets pretty cold. Depending on the region, you have to reckon with snowstorms. March and April have to be counted as winter months but both months can be a very attractive alternative.
