Bangladesh is located on the Bay of Bengal near India. Climatically it is under the influence of tropical monsoons. Bangladesh consists mainly of flat land with marshy areas along the large delta of the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers. Only in the Chittagong area in the southeast Bangladesh becomes more hilly.
The climate can be roughly compared to that of India. There is mainly a three- to four-season weather, which is mainly influenced by the monsoon.
The cool season is between November and February, during which time Bangladesh is warmer than most parts of India. During the cool season it is comparatively dry and temperatures are quite pleasant.
It gets hot between March and June. During this time there are often rain storms, which can sometimes be quite violent. This is the pre-monsoon season.
The main rainy season is during the southwest monsoon between June and September. The rain falls heavily whereby there is still somewhat more rain in the east than elsewhere in the country.
Also between September and November it can rain again and again. However, it does not rain quite as reliably as between June and September. Nevertheless, extreme rainfall can also be expected from September to November. During this time, however, the rain is often accompanied by violent hurricanes. It is during this phase that the sometimes devastating floods occur in the country.
Temperatures in Bangladesh during the hot phase are usually lower than in many parts of India, but the climate in Bangladesh is more than arduous due to the high humidity. There is surprisingly little climatic variation within the country. During the hot period, it is slightly warmer inland than on the coast. Typical for the inland would be e.g. the climate table of Dhaka, typical for the coastal regions the one of Chittagong.

The optimal time to travel to Bangladesh, according to many experts, is most likely to be in the cooler season between November and February. Then it is usually quite dry, temperatures are pleasant and humidity is comparatively low.
